CookWithThat is made by Sandybyte, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom ("I", "me"). Contact: support@sandybyte.com.
The short version
The app doesn't collect any of your information. There are no accounts, adverts, analytics or tracking, and I don't receive your ingredient lists, your recipes or anything about how you use the app. The only time I receive anything is if you choose to email me.
Where your information is kept
- Your ingredient list and settings are stored on your iPhone.
- Saved recipes are stored on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud database so they appear on your other devices. That database belongs to your Apple Account; I can't see or access it.
- Your daily idea count is stored in your iPhone's keychain, on that device only. It can stay there if you delete and reinstall the app, so the free allowance isn't reset by reinstalling.
- Voice input, if you use it, is turned into text by your iPhone's own speech recognition. The audio isn't sent to me.
- Cooking timers use notifications scheduled on your iPhone.
How recipes are made
Recipes are written by Apple Intelligence. With Apple's on-device model, which this version uses, your ingredient list never leaves your iPhone. If a future version uses Apple's Private Cloud Compute, your list is processed on Apple's servers to write the recipe; Apple says this data isn't stored or made accessible to Apple. It is never sent to me. Apple describes how it handles this in its own privacy information for Apple Intelligence.
Purchases
If you buy CookWithThat Plus, Apple handles the payment. I don't receive your payment details or your Apple Account information. Apple tells me about sales in aggregate for accounting.
Emailing me
If you email me, for example with the Report a problem button, I receive your email address and what you send, including the recipe attached to a report. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it. I'm responsible for these emails (the "controller"). I use them only to reply and to improve the app, on the basis of my legitimate interest in supporting it, and delete them when they're no longer needed for that, normally within 12 months.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
Because I don't hold your data, there's usually nothing for me to give you or delete. If you have emailed me, you can ask me to access, correct or delete those emails. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
CookWithThat isn't aimed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update the date above and, for any significant change, mention it in the app's release notes.
